I just checked the weather online and it appears that the tempreture in Jakarta, Indonesia -- where I'm moving to at the end of August -- is actually COOLER than it is in Louisville, Kentucky. It's so damn hot here in the Bluegrass, home of allergens and mold spores the size of wolverines, that pigeons are actually flying into local Kentucky Fried Chicken's to SURRENDER.
It's so hot Al Gore got an inconvenient rash.
Its so hot I actually saw a squirrel icing down his nuts.
Seriously, at this point we have heat indexes well over triple digits, and the pollution/ozone/crummy air indexes in the lethal range. It looks like its going to go on all month and won't change until I'm well on my way out of here...

Re: Moving to a Cooler Climate
Tue, August 7, 2007 - 10:47 AMI'm going to the desert for the rest of the month. It will *feel* cooler there because the humidity is only 10%. As opposed to almost 60% here in KY!
Woot! I can't wait to get out of this stickyness! To a place where you never feel your sweat, it evaporates too quickly!
Travel Cheerful!

Re: Moving to a Cooler Climate
Tue, August 7, 2007 - 7:48 PMOur car thermo. read 107 today in downtown Lexington! (Nott hat it's ~totally~ trustworthy)
The radio (MPR) said the last record high for this date was 95 degrees in 1930... and the bank sign read 102 degrees when we passed it...So we are breaking records all right.
It's so hot the trees are whistling for the dogs !
It's so hot tobacco plants come already rolled up and lit !
It's so hot the squirrels are leaving ther nuts uncovered !
It's so hot the entire commonwealth is hosting a "statewide" wet t-shirt contest !

Re: Moving to a Cooler Climate
Mon, September 10, 2007 - 1:25 PMI grew up in the desert. I don't care what the humidity is.... hot is hot. And I much prefer the humidity of the east -- with its lush deciduous, hardwood forests -- to the dry baking heat of the desert -- with its.... nothing. In the desert, there's no escaping the heat. In the east, at least you can get under a nice shade tree, and actually feel the difference. Not to mention, when it gets to be 95 or so, the humidity has typically dissipated.
Now granted... I'd much prefer a nice tropical island, where the temps fluctuate between 70 and 85 all year long. It sure as hell beats 20 below zero in February.

Nine years too late for this, but welcome to the soggy river valley and the land of rainy, 34 degree winters. -

Re: Moving to a Cooler Climate
Sun, October 14, 2007 - 12:28 PMsupposedly, Kentucky gets more precipatation than evaporation each year.
That means wet... and moist. The cold days don't help. And the humidity in the summer isn't any better, really.
I just got my first electric heat pad to keep myself feeling better on those "achey" cold/wet achey days!
This state is crazy. -
